Summer Camp Activities

Adventure
Find adventure on our Bob Chandler Courage Course. Our Course includes a 50’ high climbing structure, challenge walls, team “spider’s web,” and countless other games and challenges. Your camper will learn how to stretch and strengthen their courage muscles under the caring supervision of our specially trained staff.

Archery
All of our campers will have the opportunity to load a bow with an arrow and take aim at a colorful target. Archery is a great activity for developing patience and concentration through a step-by-step process while having fun and gaining valuable skills.

Arts and Crafts
Many different traditional and innovative Camp crafts are offered at the Arts and Crafts porch. Campers may get to silkscreen their own Camp shirt and work on leather designs. Additionally, campers will also get the opportunity to make a lanyard, tie-dye a shirt, weave a “friendship bracelet” and more!

Campfires
What could be more fun than singing and listening to stories while sitting with new and old friends around a campfire? Our Welcome Campfire makes the first night of each session special; every cabin group (including counselors and medical staff) performs a “wacky” introduction skit or song. The Appreciation Campfire is held on the last night of each session and includes a special candle-lighting ceremony and a memory slideshow under the stars.

Cooking

Each cabin group will attend a one-hour cooking session as an educational part of Camp. Trained Activity Counselors lead campers in making delicious cheesecake, fresh pasta, home-made soups and even ice cream!

Dance

Each session, campers have the opportunity to “bust out their dancing shoes” and “groove to the music” at an all-Camp dance party. If you don’t know how to dance, that’s okay! There are plenty of folks around to help! Plus, we offer a table of games and crafts for folks who prefer more quiet activities to dancing!

Music

Ever make a drum from a gourd or a flute from plastic pipe? At Camp, you may have the opportunity when you meet our wonderful world musician and friend, John Zeretzke. John brings inventive projects and teaches you to make an awesome musical instrument each time he comes.

Fishing

You must be an early bird to get the worm…on the hook, that is! Our Camp pond is stocked with catfish, bluegill and bass just waiting to be hooked! We use barb-less hooks and implement a humane catch-and-release fishing program. What is Camp without catching a “whopper” of a fish?

Free Choice

During the week at Camp, each Camp group will be scheduled for a 2-hour block of free choice activity time. These 2 hours will be planned and facilitated by our counselors with the assistance of our oldest W.O.L.P. campers (age 16 - 18). Do you like board games, the Slip and Slide or going on a hike? Free Choice is fun for all!

Horseback Riding

Under the direction of specially trained equestrians, 9 - 15 year old campers will have the opportunity to learn about horses, practice basic riding skills in one of our 2 riding rings and even go on a trail ride. No previous experience is needed. Our staff specializes in taking new and returning campers of all abilities and challenges on safe and fun trail rides. YEEEHAAA! Campers are required to wear helmets and participate in a safety orientation.

Nature
Camp has 60 acres of tress, flowers and meadows to be enjoyed. During Camp Nature Activities, campers will explore Camp’s natural world as a group and learn how to list and describe the components of a healthy ecosystem. Go Green!

Swimming

The pool is cool! All campers joins their cabins at the pool every day. A certified Red Cross lifeguard supervises the watery play and fun. Counselors take turns assisting our pool guard as a safety lookout on the deck side and playing with the campers in the summer splashing fun!

Radio Station

Ever want to be like the “Disc Jockeys” you hear on your favorite radio station? At Camp you can. All campers will join their cabin to program and operate KCGT – 1620 AM, Camp’s very own radio station. Listen to yourself broadcast over the “air waves” and take home a CD of all the campers’ radio performances.

Sports and Games

Basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, softball, soccer, “GA-GA” and more…Cabin groups participate in all kinds of fun sports and games. Don’t worry if you feel you’re not good at traditional sports—we are known for our wacky relay races and games. Camp has a ton of equipment and imagination that ensures fun for everyone!
