Q: When is the best time to refer my patient to Camp?
A: In 2004, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® partnered with Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and the UniHealth Foundation to conduct a Camp Awareness Study. The findings of the study indicated that parents are interested in sending their children to Camp during maintenance treatment.
Q: What are the volunteer opportunities?
A: To provide the safety and care that our campers deserve and their parents expect, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® looks to partner with practicing pediatric oncology physicians and nurses willing to volunteer during our Camp sessions. Q: Who are our campers?
A: Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times’® mission is to support children with cancer and their families. Our patient campers range in age from infant – 18.  Our programs are tailored to the age of the patient. 
Q: Is Camp only for children on treatment?
A: No. Some of our campers are currently undergoing treatment and many have been in remission for years. We also provide supportive Camp experiences for the patients' brothers and sisters of Camp age.
Q: Is there a cost to the family?
A: No! All of our programs are completely FREE. We even provide free round-trip bus transportation for our sessions from several Southland locations.
Q: How many campers are at a session?
A: Our Summer and Winter Youth and Teen Camps typically host 100-130 campers. Our Spring and Fall Family Camps host 20-30 families (parents and their children).
Q: What are the Camp programs available?
A:

Family Camps (Spring and Fall) for families with patient children ages infant - 8 years old
Winter and Summer Camps for patient and sibling children ages 9 - 15 years old
Winter and Summer Camps for patient and sibling children ages 16 - 18 years old

Q: Where is Camp located?
A: Our campsite is located on the pine-filled slopes of the San Jacinto Mountains. West of Riverside and east of Palm Springs, the facilities sit on 60 acres with flat meadows and surrounding Ponderosa Pines at an elevation of 4,500 feet. Click on "Campsite" at the top of this page to read more.
Q: What is the medical center like at Camp?
A: Camp is equipped with a state-of–the-art healthcare center, or what we call the “Med Shed.” The Med Shed provides areas and equipment to support campers’ healthcare needs while at camp and includes the following:
  • Reception and triage area
  • Examination room
  • Camper resting and sleeping areas
  • Medication dispensary
  • Healthcare office
  • Equipment and supply storage
  • Central venous Catheter Care Cabin
Q: How do I refer a camper/family?
A: We depend on clinical oncology physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, health educators and child life specialists to share the benefits of the Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times experience with a patient, family or siblings. If you know of a family that can benefit from Camp, you can refer them to us using "Refer a camper/family" on our Health Community page and/or encourage them to request information online or by calling us at toll free at (800) 625-7295.
Q: How do I get camper applications and brochures to pass out to my families?
A: We can provide your office or clinic with informative brochures, applications and displays on Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® programs. Please contact our Camp Director, Dot Mains, at dot@campronaldmcdonald.org or (800) 625-7295. You can also download Camper Application and Medical Examination forms by clicking "Forms" at the top of the website.
Q: When are the Camp sessions this year?
